How to use eBay Shipping Profiles?
What are eBay Shipping Profiles?
After all that huff and puff of promoting and listing your product, you’re not done yet. You’re now on to the next level of selling your product. And that’s shipping it through safe hands in the best way possible. What’s the shipping rate? Is it Calculated or Flat? What are the dimensions? What’s the weight? What about the Returns? You’ll be tickled to enter them all if you are a newbie of the joy of your products being sold. But what if you need to do them frequently where you need to fulfill hundreds of orders? Shipping policies or otherwise known as “Business Policies” on eBay, are the payment, postage and return details specified to your buyers in your listings. Shipping profiles helps sellers save all that time and allows to create a template for all similar sized items and change credentials for those all at a time. Once created a template you’ll be able to:
- Just select an appropriate shipping profile instead of entering your payment, shipping and return details every time you list
- Easily edit and update your policies across multiple listings, instead of changing each listing individually
- Save time if you list products frequently
- Re-assign policies while listing in bulk
- Streamline new listing creation
Can I do that on eBay?
Yes you can. Shipping profiles are a part of eBay’s Business policies. When eBay released their business policy, some sellers were automatically pulled in and some were not. But before opting for one, you need to be sure that your eBay account is approved for business policies. Check for “Business Policies” option under “Account” if it does not you will need to fill up a form for approval from eBay to get the feature. Find the form here Business Policies Opt In Form.
Getting Started
If you’ve already created listings, eBay automatically creates some Policies for you based upon your current active, scheduled and ended listings. You can find them on My eBayèAccountèBusiness policies. The policies can be edited or changed to well suit your business. If you haven’t listed any items yet, and don’t have any policies stated, you’ll need to create at least one template for each policy type, i.e. payments, shippings and returns way before you list the products. policy
Here you can either edit or create new templates for whichever policy. Assigning name and description to the policy is important to identify them easily while listing products as you can see. You can also delete them but, before doing that, you’ll need to be sure that it’s not being used on any active, scheduled or Second Chance Offer Listings or see that your Selling Manager Pro templates aren’t referring to it.
